Big Wave Cafe is a pleasure to frequent. Its offerings are surf inspired, it says. It serves the classic BLT, which is a sandwich well formulated to get one out on the waves, as well as good drinks, & other eats which will do the same thing & includes oat cakes. The owner, Chris, is charming, welcoming & very helpful. It is conveniently located on Ucluelet’s main commercial road of Peninsula, next to the legendary eating spot, Howlers, & offers outside seating where one can sip & sup if one does not want to do food & drinks as take away. From April Easter long-weekend Friday, it will extend it hours, opening @ 6am & closing @ 4pm. How convenient is that! Posted by S Fuller
Coffee, conversations and a culinary treat at the Big Wave Cafe! Chris and his team were so welcoming and made amazing recommendations for the food while making the tastiest breakfast for the road trip. We were so hungry watching him make it that we had to eat it and drink our coffees right away before hitting the road. Try the McLovin Sandwich! The best! But now I want to try other items from the scrabble board inspired menu.
The drip coffee is lighter than expected — not as bold or full-bodied. The cappuccino is decent, but nothing particularly memorable.”
Perfect take out breakfast. Amazing soft bagel sandwiches, custom ordered with so many possible combinations. It is a takeout window, so if it is raining, there is no where to stand out of the rain.
Good coffee, awesome breakfast food, and the best service in town. We had the breakfast wrap, mclovin sandwich, and the overnight oats; all were terrific. Fantastic vibes and they open at 7 for early risers! This is the place to get your morning started.

I stopped by today for the first time and ordered a latte with dulce de leche, oat milk and an extra shot and it was delicious! Such a cute little cafe with great lattes and customer service! There is no indoor seating, but there is plenty of outdoor seating. I loved that their menu used scrabble letters, cute touch! Their stir sticks are pasta, which was funny and clever. I’ll definitely be back on my next vacation to Ukee!
Literally the best breakfast bagel/sando I’ve ever had. Get the Mclovin Sando with salmon and feta. So good I’m coming back tomorrow for another one! Staff is awesome and have seriously good vibes.
